Shimla is the capital and largest city of Himachal Pradesh in North India.it is very popular hill station amongst north indians.This place is famous for pleasant walking experience on hillsides surrounded by large trees of pine and oak. The Mall,Ridge and Toy Train are another attractions of the town. people come here to experience snowfall which starts from late in december to february. Apart from snowfall of shimla this place is also enjoyable for tourists planning to visit the place during summer season.this town is well connected by road from Delhi and attracts host of tourists. in this post i am sharing number of places worth visiting.

Mall Road

This place is my personal favourite and this tops the list of every tourist planning for shimla.this is very happening spot and attracts people of all ages. since this road is closed for vehicles you will love to walk here.you will get all kinds of departmental stores, book stores, wooden articles and exclusive handicraft work.

The ridge

this place may be called the heart and soul of the city.this is a wide open road that runs along the Mall Road and connects it to the famous scandal point. one can see snow capped mountains and colonial period establishments here. bars ,cafes ,restaurants

are flourished with the tourists.this ,because of its beautiful landscapic view becomes the hotspot for tourists as well as locals.

Jakku Hill & Temple

Jakku hill is the highest point of shimla ,it is situated at a height of 8000 ft above the sea level.beautiful views of snow covered shivalik mountain ranges can be enjoyed from this point .on jakku hill you can pay a visit to Hanuman temple which is having world’s tallest hanuman statue of108 ft.As per locals jakku temple is the place where lord hanuman had rested for a while when bringing sanjeevani to save lord lakshman ‘s life during war of lanka with raavan.you can visit this temple from 7 a m to 8 p m anyday.

Christ Church

christ church of shimla is the second oldest church in north india.it is remarkable example of neo gothic style of architecture.it was designed by colonel j. t. boileau in 1844. it is situated in The Ridge. its stained glass windows, brass church bell not only looks beautiful in the day time but also in the night when it is illuminated.

it can be visited anytime between 8 am to 6 pm.since the church is on the Ridge only it will take no extra effort to visit this place.

Kalka -Shimla Railway

kalka- shimla rail route was buiit on 1898.this narrow gauge railway is recently been added to the mountain railways of india world heritage site by UNESCO. this rail ride starts from kalka at haryana and ends at shimla.this rail ride offers spectacular views of the surrounding hills of shivalik. on its way to shimla it stops at number of tourist destinations like Solan, Dharapur,Summer Hill ,Salogra,Taradevi and Barog.The ride will take you through 864 bridges, 919 curves, and 102 tunnels. i would advise you not to miss this beautiful experience from your next shimla tour.
