india: world’s hotspot for poaching of tigers

india now is a world’s hotspot for poaching of tigers as described by TRAFFIC, a global wildlife trade watchdog.

in its report” SKIN and BONES: TIGER TRAFFICKING ANALYSIS FROM JANUARY 2000 TO JUNE 2022″ mentioned a total of 3300 tigers were illegally confiscated globally during this timeframe , out of which 893 of the tigers were killed only in India ,which is home to more than half of the global wild tiger population.

Tiger skin is the most demanding part of the animal in the world market along with its claws and teeth.Out of the global total,38% of the tiger skin,and 42% of the claws and teeth were seized in India.

India has nearly 65% of the world wild tiger population which makes india a good place for poachers.

Tiger parts are used in traditional chinese medicines, its bones are highly coveted and are used in treatment of epilepsy, joint pains, baldness and toothaches.however there is no scientific evidence behind these claims.

This report reveals urgent need to pay attention to this problem in order to save not only tigers but our wildlife as well.
