ASHTAVINAYAK TEMPLES IN MAHARASHTRA

Ashtavinayak means Eight Ganesha. the ashtavinayak temples or eight ganesha’s temples are located in maharashtra state around city of Pune.the ashtavinayak yatra covers the 8 very ancient ganesha temples in a pre ascertained sequence. each of these temples has different idols of ganesha with a different story of its establishment.the formation of each idol of ganesha and his trunk are distinct from each other.

It is believed that to complete Ashtavinayak Yatra one must revisit the first ganpati temple after visiting all eight temples of ganesh

these temples are : 1. Mayureshwar

2.Siddhivinayak

3.Ballaleshwar

4.Shri dhundi vinayak

5.Varadavinayak

6.Chintamani

7.Girijatmaj

8.Vighneshwar

According to Hindu Shashtra these temples should be visited in a sequence.one should start this religious journey from Moreshwar in Morgaon and then visit the temple of Siddhivinayak , Ballaleshwar (Pali) ,Varadavinayak (Mahad), Chintamani (Theur),Girijatmaj (lenyandri), Vighnahar Ganesh (Ozar) , Mahaganpati Ganesha (Ranjangaon) and in the last visit Moreshwar Temple again.This will complete your Ashtavinayak Yatra.

Some of the figurines in abovementioned temples are called as” Swayambhu” which means no human hands formed them .they are crafted completely by nature.

Getting There

You need to reach Pune from any part of the world for this Yatra. From Pune you can take bus , car ,taxi ,cabs. The best way to hire a Taxi from any local travel agent.Though for all temples State Transport Buses are available.Another comfort is Helicopter Service which is available for this 654 kms pilgrimage.
